is there like a reverse paybutton.cash?

we can send money like donations using BCH, what if I want to give money / tokens away easily with a simple script / button tag on my website?

like reverse PayButton: https://github.com/PayButton/paybutton.github.io, or reverse MoneyButton?

where you click the button and you get free tokens / coins?

Imagine 9 years ago with $50 you could buy 993 bitcoins!!

I was looking at a Calculator someone made here , and i saw if i DCA $50 a week since 2010 i would have $139,037,775.13 Now. LoL.

So here is my story.. 7 years ago i had a friend named Leef. we used to play spades at Yahoo games. He was into bitcoin. He kept telling me instead playing spades or talking with old people in games lobby go mine some bitcoin. I ignored him and didn't want to learn.

a year or 2 ( not sure ) he came back and said he freaked out when he saw btc reached $700 so he sold all his. and he told me how i should have bought ( mined )

He vanished after that, never heard from him again. And then years later in late 2016 at $3600 i got into bitcoin.

Makes me wish i got in while it was under 100. so bad huh? smh

Bitcoin Core Full Node - Almost giving up

Hey all,

I installed Bitcoin Core on an external 1TB Hard Disk, downloaded the entire blockchain in less than 18 hours and got synced.

Everything nice and smooth but I can't open the infamous Port 8333, so I continuously have only 8 outbound active connections and still 0 inbound connections (I can't open Port 8333 because I don't know how to do it).

I searched on the web but really I can't figure out how to solve this issue, I couldn't find any comprehensible help. I'd love to run a full node and contribute with my means to the network. I think that everyone of us should run a full node even if it looks like tech savvy stuff. Though, I don't get why it has to be so complicated.

Any suggestions?

Would love to hear your experience.

Thanks

SLP token question

Is anyone working on a smart contract that allows you to automatically give dividends either via BCH or a token so that a third party never has to be relied on to manage dividends? This would be a very useful tool, and would strengthen the utility argument for SLP tokens in use for shares of a company or dapp.

Where do people usually put their hardware wallet once they decide not to touch it again for years?

I have taken all safety protocols. Multiple hand written seeds in various locations in tamper evident bags in a fire and waterproof box. Is the actual hardware wallet important to secure the same way the seeds would be? My impression is that the seeds are more important than device, so a bank safety deposit box or home safe would do. Or even just a drawer. What does the community think?

The Australian "Cash Ban Law" could make some Bitcoin transactions in Australia illegal. Penalty: Imprisonment 2 years.

Australia is in the process of introducing a “Cash Ban Law” which will pave the way for negative interest rates and seriously reduce our civil liberties.

This law will introduce an economy-wide payment limit (likely includes cryptocurrency transactions) of $10,000 for payments made or accepted by businesses for goods and services. Penalty: Imprisonment for 2 years or...

The structure of this proposed bill makes reducing the cash limit in the future to $2000 and then phasing out entirely the use of cash and "digital currencies" easy.

Does anyone have knowledge or a legal opinion as to how this proposed law will affect people paying for Australian Goods and Services using cryptocurrency?

A Tale of Two Transactions

I recently participated in two nearly identical transactions. One was on the Bitcoin blockchain and the other was on Bitcoin Cash. I don't usually have the chance to compare the two chains head-to-head, so I thought it would be interesting to see how they performed. I was withdrawing coins from a custodial service (the same sender created both txs), so I did not control the fee levels. Here's how it went.

The Bitcoin transaction paid a transaction fee equivalent to roughly $6.50 USD (137 sat/byte) and it took about 30-40 minutes to confirm. This was a native SegWit transaction...pretty much a best case scenario on the Bitcoin network.

The Bitcoin Cash transaction paid a transaction fee equivalent to roughly $0.06 (100 sat/byte) and it took less than 10 minutes to confirm (next block).

The BCH transaction was over 100x cheaper and more than 3x faster to confirm. I think these facts speak for themselves.

Early Warning: I believe Gregory Maxwell, aka /u/Contrarian__ is trying to infiltrate this community. AGAIN.

Remember what he did to Wikipedia, long before he destroyed BTC with 1MB blocksize together with Adam Back, Peter Todd, Luke-Jr and others.

AFAIR he was also the Co-Creator of AntBleed campaign targeted at discrediting Bitmain, which was main supporter of Bitcoin Cash fork at the beginning.

Never forget.

Greg actually tried to infiltrate /r/btc many times, I think I remember at least 2 myself.

I believe that unhonorable & dishonest individuals like him should be forever casted out of every community they come to.

Why? Because they are pure poison. Such an individual after being a scoundrel for so long will never change his ways (I mean why would he? It still works, duh) and can only remain a snake to the end of his miserable life. They are also paid for being scoundrels, which makes them changing even more improbable. Would somebody change himself if he is so good in it that it earns him huge money? Like hell that's gonna happen.

The same applies to Cobra/Theymos, Adam Back, Peter Todd, Calvin+CSW combo and Charlie Lee.

Foreign toxic elements must be removed from this organism as soon as they are detected. We are been always under attack since BCH's inception, especially at the network upgrade time which is prone to generate controversies & conflicts.

Clearing the myth that crypto is not producing anything, hence it leads to the greater fool theory. For some cryptocurrencies such as BTC (non-scalable obsolete technology), they may be right about the greater fool theory. But this may not apply to other cryptocurrencies, here’s why.

Clearing the myth that crypto is not producing anything, hence it leads to the greater fool theory. For some cryptocurrencies such as BTC (non-scalable obsolete technology), they may be right about the greater fool theory. But this may not apply to other cryptocurrencies, here’s why.

In economics, something has value if it has 2 main characteristics; scarcity and utility. The value of cryptocurrencies come from its usability and utility. My shit is scarce like BTC, but just being scarce alone is not enough. It has to be of value to people. And don’t make the mistake of thinking price and value are the same; they are not. In the short term, price is based on speculation but in the long run, price usually aligns with its value.

Usability And Network Effects – Recently, I had been to Tokyo, Australia, Slovenia, and during my trips to these 3 countries, I managed to live off Bitcoin Cash entirely. There wasn’t even a need to touch the local currencies. And unlike BTC, I do not need to pay over $50 in transaction fees every single transaction nor do I need to wait for weeks for the transaction to confirm. Source: https://www.trustnodes.com/2017/12/22/gregory-maxwell-celebrates-high-fees-300000-stuck-transactions

Sure, it’s not the peak period now so the BTC fees had dropped but why do I want to use something that is only at times usable and other times, totally unusable? And this is why greater fool theory applies to BTC but not necessarily other cryptocurrencies. Only great fools will wait weeks for their transaction to clear while paying over $50 fees each transaction.

Here are some other areas where Bitcoin Cash had value in my own personal experience.

Saves Time / Money – Time is money for most people. In fact, I would argue that time is more important than money. Bitcoin Cash has allowed me to pay wages to my employees across the world instantly easily and almost for free. I do not need to waste time queueing up at the bank and filling up forms and get charged expensive bank fees.

Shadow Banking – I no longer need to keep my money in offshore bank accounts. With Bitcoin Cash, I am my own offshore bank account. I saved lots of time/money on hiring lawyers and offshore administrators to manage my offshore money.

Businesses Lacking Banking Relationships – Bitcoin Cash, with its instant transactions at sub-cent fees, has massive value for businesses that are totally shut off from having bank accounts. They are typically from the gambling, adults, drugs industries. With Bitcoin Cash, they can do their business worldwide without restricting themselves to customers from a single country.

Protection From Unstable Economy / Inflation / Hyperinflation – I always find it weird that people are able to accept their fiat losing value 100% of the time, but unable to accept cryptocurrencies that may increase in value over time. Bitcoin Cash, with its limited supply, protects investors from inflation and hyperinflation, which is valuable especially in times of crisis and instability.

Insurance Policy – Why do people buy insurance since it does not produce anything? Because it gives people a piece of mind. Similarly, cryptocurrencies allow me to feel safe in times of crisis because I have the choice to escape anywhere and continue my life with most of my money intact. This is highly valuable to me, knowing the world has became crazier with all the government suppression going on, and all the protests going on around the world.

Great User Experience – I have made over few hundred Bitcoin Cash transactions and it was always mind blowing. It is fast, reliable, instant, cost less than a cent and I never worry about lost funds such as what happens to BTC or Lightning Network users. Source: https://np.reddit.com/r/btc/comments/dm0b4y/warning_if_you_try_to_use_the_lightning_network/

All in all, I am extremely bullish about cryptocurrencies and especially Bitcoin Cash because it has tremendous value and utility. I am here for the long term so I don’t care much about the price right now. Cheaper is better for me because I can get more Bitcoin Cash for the same dollar. In fact, I actually felt bad when my supplier’s check came in late and I had to get BCH at $270 instead of $210 a couple of weeks before.

The low price provides an opportunity for people who missed the early Bitcoin train. And if they missed this train too, they shouldn’t complain in the future. As the Bitcoin Cash halving approaches, having its supply mined per day cut in half, I am even more aggressive in getting my hands on more Bitcoin Cash. I am here for the long term, promoting Bitcoin Cash to as many people as possible, every single day.

I am now officially taking LIGHTNING payments on my online store. Here's the rundown on how I got it done.

E-commerce is a tricky bitch, but if you can manage to understand the psychology of selling a product online and you learn the skills to allow for a seamless transaction, then you're in for a career that you own and control.

A few days ago, I told the community about my progress i accepting Bitcoin on my apparel store. We're getting around 50-60k impressions every month, a lot of eyes and transactions around a small operation like ours. Nevertheless, the mere fact that we're accepting Bitcoin as a payment option goes to show the possibility of driving this mainstream. Let me elaborate:

Shopify just announced that they crossed 1 million merchants on the platform. Bitcoin is being offered as a NATIVE checkout option via Coinbase Commerce. However, this is where things fall apart. Here's why:

  • Few people want to spend their Bitcoin
  • Those that do want to spend it and believe in its future as a currency don't trust Coinbase

So, I got to work. I did my research and realized that language around Lightning always involves speedy transactions without intermediaries. This implies that the community that revolves around lightning is slightly different and actually prefers to spend their Bitcoin in support of the idea of Bitcoin as a currency. Whether they spend and buy again is a whole other issue.

With this in mind, and based off a recommendation by u/bitcoinusuario, I ran into a small startup out of California called Opennode. I reached out to them directly, told them about the community's recommendation of their platform, and we got to work on an integration with Shopify. Fortunately, they had already begun work on this and offer it right out of the box. They ran me through an expedited approval process, I got a hold of the API keys and BAM:

WE ARE INTEGRATED WITH SHOPIFY! (find the new integration at the bottom)

The way it works is:

  1. A customer lands on the store and adds their items to their cart
  2. He clicks checkout and is presented with the quick one-click payment integrations that are native to the platform (Apple Pay, Google Pay, Amazon Pay, and PayPal). You can't expect me to get rid of these 😇
  3. If he wants to pay with a credit card or installment payments, he skips this and proceeds by entering his email address and shipping information.
  4. In the final screen of checkout, he's once more presented with all his payment options. Bitcoin is there!
  5. Once selected, you click complete payment and you're taken to the payment's screen for Opennode. LIGHTNING IS NOW AN OPTION!

I'm not sure you understand how crazy this is guys. Bitcoin and Lightning are sitting next to the ranks of the world's biggest payment processors. What I'm working on now is getting more language right below the quick checkout buttons that point to Bitcoin as a payment option. I do not have access to the checkout.liquid files with my current plan, so this will have to come next year. Nevertheless, I'm thrilled to have accepted my first Bitcoin transaction yesterday. I had a few transactions go through with my older integration, but I'm happy the order went through seamlessly, the items were shipped, they got their tracking information, and they are now on their way to the customer.

Now, it's just a matter of getting other merchants to accept it. So it's up to YOU to start requesting this from every single merchant you buy from. Send them a quick email and say: Can you please accept Bitcoin? It's as simple as that. Don't give them shit for accepting credit cards through banks. You guys gave me hell because I was accepting Bitcoin via Coinbase Commerce. I admit, I did it because it was quick and it offers Litecoin and Ethereum as additional payment options. So if you would like to see these 2 back, please let me know in the comments!

If you run a store on Shopify, Woo Commerce, PrestaShop or OpenCart,, please consider adding Bitcoin as a payment option. If you're thinking about opening up a store, go here to see it in action and DM me with any questions on how to get started in e-commerce. If you have any suggestions on how to get the word out on stores that are currently accepting Bitcoin, I'm all ears.

One last thing. The reason why I can't skip Opennode and go completely native is that the experience HAS TO BE SEAMLESS for the customer. Sending out an e-mail to the customer with a wallet address is barbaric and unrealistic. This, however, is a step in the right direction.

Cheers guys and thanks for reading. Carry on!

Why can’t Jack Dorsey figure out how to make crypto work on his own damn platform?

Ok, this is a drunk rant, but there’s fuel for a decent discussion here: If Jack Dorsey really loves bitcoin, why can’t he figure out how to implement it on Twitter?! It’s not hard- we’ve had at least two, popular tip-bots on this sub. I was proud of them, because I think they showcase a prime use case for crypto currencies in general, and BCH in particular.

Jack says he believes in bitcoin, but then he goes all in on LN, which is an obvious dead-end. But even there, as a centralized platform, Twitter could possibly make Lightning Network work. Everyone could connect to one big Twitter-node.

But where is that? Why has Twitter so far failed to popularize bitcoin tipping at scale?

Always FUD to follow any bch rise.

Nothing new here. No there won’t be some attack to bury the network. No one at bitmain will dump 1M bch either. Good lord, it’s like anytime bch gains a couple points the btc curmudgeons crawl out and spread trashy fud. I mean I own both. When will this dumbassery end? Crypto has bigger battles to focus on...

Working Crypto(preferably BCH)-funded Payment/Debit Cards for Europeans in 2019/2020? Any news?

I would really like to pay in BCH for everything (especially gas and groceries), but since it is not possible in Poland (and most of EU) right now, so I could very much use a temporary solution until Bitcoin Cash conquers the whole world.

So John McAfee may actually be on to something with his 1 Mil prediction if BTC follows the '13-'14 Bull Market Gains (which its resembling currently more than the '15-'17). Transposed that upswing to now and 1 Mil it is.

I created a token that will pay you satoshis each time the Boston Celtics win a basketball game.

https://imgur.com/di8M2ox

The token is listed here: https://memo.cash/token/98163c317e0e3f314a73849058739f79a25bc27e6c1e4f42636e28bd4d20ed3f?for-sale

If you get one from me (Blazer) then ALL proceeds will go towards the win pot that is awarded to all holders when the Celtics win their next basketball game.

Current win pot is 15,720,000 Satoshi.
