What is a good way to gift bitcoin?
I have decided to make a bitcoin wedding gift to my cousin. I have the BTC already purchased. Anyway, now I am thinking of nice and noncomplicated way to present it. I was thinking of making a paper wallet - something like www.bitaddress.org makes. But I am not sure about the security of this. So basically, I am asking - what is a secure way to generate a nice looking paper wallet offline? Preferably running on linux. Thanks for suggestions!

btc transaction prices
It is interesting to see the difference in the fee market now, compared to the crazy time about a year ago. People seem relaxed, if there is a pile up of transactions in the queue, fees only rises slightly, and they keep being elevated for hours after. Transactions with miniscule fees of 1 or 2 sat/B are still being confirmed, either quickly with low traffic or after some hours.
If we have more demand pressure, which I think we will have, it is not certain at this point that we will have a queue of over 100k trans, I believe the current situation will continue, basically forever, but with fees creeping up. The high fee, priority transactions will be more expensive.
Not sure about the low fee, can wait, transactions. Maybe ultra low fees for some transaction will continue, with a wait time of up to half a day, because the high fee transactions will reduce demand.
The market is a fantastic mechanism.
Glad we have it in bitcoin cash too.

Need help selling my house for bitcoin.
I really want to do my part helping with adoption, and believe in bitcoin so much that I’d like to put one of my properties up for sale exclusively for bitcoin. No cash, wire, gold, etc.. There is also a reporter who says she’ll publish the news in the local newspaper so I’m hoping it gets people to ask questions and learn about bitcoin.
Does anyone have any advice on how to properly set this up. I don’t really understand how smart contracts work, or if there are real estate crypto escrows or if those would even be applicable but I’m very motivated to do this and if you guys could offer any help I’ll update everyone as it successfully unfolds and enters the market.

If you care about paying taxes after ordinary, smaller value crypto purchases...
....then you should fuck off and go back to using the fiat scam.
TAXATION = THEFT

The primary use case for BCH is speculation
This is why the payments feature isn't relevant to adoption.
Most users do not care about 0-conf, using crypto to buy online, paying a few cents in fees, or speed of transactions.
They are just investing in the crypto that they believe will make them the most money.

HEY EVERYBODY PATCH YOUR WINRAR OR LOSE COINS!!!!!!
You are probably smart enough not to open random exe files from the internet? Right? You might even drop an exe in to virustotal.com if you are doubting to see how the rest of the internet feels about that file.
But you probably don't think twice about opening winrar file. Well there is a winrar exploit now, that is going to make millions of victims.
Here is how it works. You open the wrong rar file with an unpatched version of winrar and a payload is dropped in to your windows startup folder. Which means on reboot you will load up an exe.
And nobody ever updates their winrar. And rar files are used intensively on usenet and also in torrents. So there are probably at least a 100 million computers with an unpatched version of winrar on it.
So this is going to steal a shitload of coins. I can guarantee it.
So PATCH YOUR WINRAR!!!!! Go to https://www.rarlab.com/download.htm and download the latest version. Search and delete and destroy any version on your computer you can find that's under WinRAR 5.70
The .dll file that contains the actual bug is unacev2.dll because the bug is in ACE, not in winrar. Winrar has just dropped support for ACE in 5.7 and removed the .dll file from their install. All software with ACE support is vulnerable which is not just winrar but also software like Total Commander among others.
Let your friends and family know. If you happen to be on any random computer with an older version of winrar, please replace it with 5.7 or higher.
If you downloaded and opened that leaks.rar that was posted here today about a big bitfinex leak, well you are infected now. Check %appdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\ for a file called "IntelAudio.exe"
The payload tries to fool you in to thinking it's teamviewer, probably not the most sophisticated malware attack but more attacks will follow. Winrar simply is a piece of software that is trusted by almost everybody. And now you can't trust it anymore, unless you update.
All of this is also again a reminder to use a cold wallet/hot wallet system with a seperate computer that can not go on the internet. To steal coins from such a system you need something as advanced as stuxnet malware. Or use a hardware wallet.

Bitcoin Developers - Thank you!
I wish to thank all Bitcoin users on GitHub for your hard work and dedication. I am not a coder nor well versed in cryptography but I can see the immense work you all have done. The fact that the users are growing and that you are all colaborating makes me happy. I am also glad that you guys are working to keep mine and everyones coins valuable and secure. I am now of the opinion that the developers working on this must be the best coders in the world, working on something in a field that is cutting edge, new and amazing. If there is a developer fan club, I am definitely on of them. From the bottom of my heart: Thank you... Thank you for being the best coders in the world and for keeping my coins crizpy.

What are the arguments against the idea that Futures Markets suppress the price of bitcoin?
I’ve read plenty of speculation that futures markets are used to drive down the price of a commodity, whether it’s gold or bitcoin. People point to bitcoin futures being introduced in December 2017 and the price immediately falling, as an example of this. We will know in three years if this is true if we don’t see another bullrun, especially after the halving. Then bitcoin is no longer cyclical in its growth, and something else is affecting price.
What are good arguments against this line of thinking?

Just received my first lightning payment, so ridiculously easy, love it!
Steps I took:
- get bitcoin lightning wallet ( android )
- send funds ( 600,000 satoshis ) from mycelium to bitcoin lightning ( wait for confirms )
- open channel ( wait for confirms )
- go to https://lightning-roulette.com/
- play with the free money a tiny bit
- hit with draw, send invoice, boom ! +5 satoshis, instant.
This is very cool! Last time I used lightning wallets was a few months ago, huge improvements since then!

The Future of Trust
Hello everyone,
I just wanted to get this off my chest since none of my close relatives, friends or students really understand it. Obviously, it is not their fault, that they don't understand the idea of Bitcoin and the whole technology around and I do not judge them by that. However, it would be nice to be able to talk to people who have at least some idea of it. And I also don't want to be surrounded by people that are totally obsessed by the technology and completely loose their minds if you think otherwise, which is sadly some cult like behavior that I am seeing around bitcoin fanatics.
For me, Bitcoin is a form of trust. Trust is not available in our society nowadays. If you do something wrong, you get sued, and if someone else does something wrong you rather sue them otherwise you are the dummy. Digitization brought that to us; a whole world connect to each other and everyone is able to share love and passion, but if a hard truth or problem is revealed, that trust it totally broken.
Is it some kind of wrong thinking that Bitcoin will actually solve that idea? To give trust to those areas where trust is not given.
I don't know if I am just putting some complete nonsense here but that's why I have some skin in the game. A future where trust is given.

I believe tax laws to be the single biggest barrier to crypto mass adoption.
I think this whole 'spend and replenish' thing that gets pushed here a lot is a good idea when taken at face value. But the tax implications of doing that are fucking enormous for people in a lot of countries. No one in their right mind is going to spend crypto like cash when every single one of those is taxed as a barter transaction of a commodity.. Plus the normal sales tax on whatever you're buying. It's just not going to happen. The laws need to change, or this is never really going anywhere.
Curious to hear some other opinions or be told why i'm wrong!
