I cant seem to find the excerpt in the whitepaper which calls for lawsuits when you disagree with consensus of the network? Are we sure that was in Satoshi's Vision?

The message is clear: Thou shalt not scale on the blockchain.

  1. BTC was crippled by co-opting the dev eam (with the excusethreat of 1MB change being contentious), thus the blockchain itself which is the primary permissionless part of Bitcoin was limited as to drive the bulk of the tx's to a 2nd layer which is less threatening to fiat.

  2. Since BTC is open source and can be forked most of the resources were aimed at preventing hardforking from ever successfully happening and to force everyone into their standard of choice - the doomed to fail version of Bitcoin. When BCH forked it was the first real attempt threatening to break free from the chain they control.

  3. nChain was created in advance in preparation to the eventuality someone will try to make a permissionless version outside their control and was meant to either try to take over the main client of the uncrippled chain ("fulfilling Satoshi's vision"), or to disrupt the chain if that fails.

nChain's endgame was to prevent BTC from hardforking successfully.

Any other chain which will stand a real chance to be uncrippled will suffer the same fate as BCH.

This isn't a conspiracy theory, it was done in some well known examples when standards were crippled to decrease their disruptive potential (e.g. https standard).

Some BTC supporters agree with the above and believe the powers that be are siding with BTC, but in reality what they're doing isn't helping BTC succeed but making it the only coin which could succeed in case people still want to use it crippled.

What kind of vision? BSV -> BS-V

Words matters. Words are spells in our thoughts which affect our mind and thus how we view things around us. They are like code in our mental operating system. It's important that we know what code is running, who wrote it, what it does and why it's doing what it's doing.

From discussing the term "Satoshi's vision" in this thread, it has become abundantly obvious to me that the "Bitcoin SV" originators are attempting to cast a spell to covertly alter our thinking and thus our behaviour. It's an attempt to hack our thoughts.

As pointed out by u/jessquit in this brilliant comment, "Satoshi's vision" and "Satoshi's Bitcoin" are terms dating back to at least the inception of Bitcoin Cash. I'm pretty sure I've heard those terms used even before then to refer to the original guiding principles and goals of Bitcoin.

From here on out I am going to refer to "Bitcoin SV" (AKA "Bitcoin: Satoshi's Vision") as simply BS-V.

BS: bullshit.

V: vision

I don't think BS-V represents Satoshi's vision. Not the one that inspired me quite long ago now. I think it's the opposite: I think this bullshit vision (BS-V) is designed to damage, subvert and poison Satoshi's vision. I think BS-V is designed to damage the one crypto currency project which has the best chance at fully realising that vision: Bitcoin Cash.

If you share my beliefs about "Bitcoin SV", then consider joining me in use of the term BS-V to refer to it. I think most people will know that it refers to "Bitcoin SV" when they see it, as the popular "Bitcoin SV" ticker is "BSV". The addition of hyphen makes all the difference.

Bitcoin Unlimited - Bitcoin Cash edition 1.5.1.0 Release candidate 2 has just been released

Download the latest Bitcoin Cash compatible release candidate of Bitcoin Unlimited (1.5.1.0-rc2, December 8th, 2018) from:

https://www.bitcoinunlimited.info/download

This is a main release candidate of Bitcoin Unlimited compatible with the Bitcoin Cash specifications you could find here:

This release candidate is compatible with both Bitcoin Cash and SV changes to the consensus rules. SV features set is disabled by default, the default policy is to activate the set of changes as defined by the bitcoincash.org.

Although this software has passed normal QA tests, it is currently undergoing longevity testing to validate stability. If you are looking for the most stable software, use the last Official Release (i.e. 1.5.0.2).

List of fixes since BU 1.5.1.0rc1:

  • Making Xversion more permissive in the initial handshake
  • Set Excessive Block Size (EB) properly while in SV mode
  • Ensure that blk files storage operate on an append-only basis
  • Various minor fixes/improvements to the python QA framework
  • Reduce the last of thinblock/preferential timer to 1 sec from 10 sec.
  • Fixed connection drop bug where a ping that happened soon after initial connection would be ignored, causing an eventual ping timeout.

List of notable changes to the code base since BU 1.5.0:

  • 10x transaction processing performance
  • Extended version message: xversion
  • adding a checkpoint at height 556767 both for the SV and the BCH chain

Release notes: https://github.com/BitcoinUnlimited/BitcoinUnlimited/blob/dev/doc/release-notes/release-notes-bucash1.5.1.0-rc2.md

Since this is a release candidate and not an official release the Ubuntu PPA repository is not going to be updated.

"Bitcoin" was able to support $100 2013. Do you believe BCH captured more or less hodlers than we had in 2013...

The final fall of this bear market may begin with the BCH split, and end with $100 BCH.

Looks like we might be able to hold at $100, but everything is still bearish. Time for the old-hands to start playing maybe?

FR: Bought a beer with BCH last Thursday at Paris meetup 😄

Hey

Quick post to give you an update of the BCH meetup we had last Thursday.

First, I invite to use a new flag for our subreddit : field report (FR). The idea is to talk about what you have done, real life experience. I always felt that the BCH community was focused on action, since a year now I’ve tried to do my part here in France

@mods: could we please add a Field Report flair? :)

About the FR:

  • We had 5 people at the venue with one who was a BTC maximalist. I invited any BTC or BSV supporters to come to the BCH meetup for Christmas season. We had a great talk, I probably will try to interact more with the BTC and BSV community in France in order to achieve common goals :)

  • I could buy a beer with BCH even though the bartender lost 90% of BCH value since the beginning of the year.

  • We are trying to organize the meetup in France with the most active members. I’ve reached a point where it’s not effective to work on my own, we need to be better organized!

When interacting with SV supporters, please remember...

Being duped doesn't make someone a bad person, or an idiot. It just means that they got duped.

There is probably a surprising number of a real people who were just particularly susceptible to the pseudo profound bullshit consistently spewed by CSW.

http://journal.sjdm.org/15/15923a/jdm15923a.html

The CSW narrative is a tempting one, just like the one pushed by Blockstream. Someone can really, honestly think that they're being critically rational when, in fact, they're not.

Given that, there's no need to attack their characters; it just makes things worse. It convinces them that they're on the right side of things, defending it against the evil "other side" that just doesn't get it.

That means that we should either engage in an affirming, understanding way, or not at all.

I don't doubt that some number of CSW supporting accounts could actually not be genuine people. But it is literally impossible to tell the difference between a brainwashed real person and a paid shill, so please don't try, or bother making accusations. Either engage reasonably and calmly, for the benefit of the other person and those following along with the conversation, or not at all.

Thanks for reading.
