Relatively new to holding/investing/using crypto. Serious question, please be cordial and understand I have no ill intentions.
I’m debating which crypto has the best future, i’ve browsed many subs and see a common theme. Every altcoin thinks they are the chosen one and bitcoin believe itself to be the gold standard and everything else to be a “shitcoin”.
Now I know what this sub believes but I would like you to alleviate some concerns I have about bitcoin, and explain why my beliefs are wrong in some altcoins.
First, with BTC, it is my understanding that the blockchain is very inefficient, has slow transition times, and small block sizes. Why is this okay?
Second, with BTC, it is my understanding that china controls over half of the BTC mining power, and that China could essentially destroy the blockchain at any time. Why is this wrong?
Finally, with BTC, it is my understanding that people pool computing power together and these groups can solve multiple blocks in a row. Why is this okay?
Now for the Alt-coins
First, it is my understanding that some altcoins can process transactions much faster, cheaper, and more securely than BTC, why is this irrelevant?
Second, why do you believe XRP and XLM to go to 0, when they have huge corporate partners and can process transactions much faster than BTC?
Finally, why must BTC be this “reference”, crypto for all altcoins, over a stablecoin?
I have lots more questions but any insight is much appreciated. Thank you.

New Bitcoin Core running
Recently set up a new 0.19.1 Bitcoin Core node on a Win 10 machine, No coins stored and no transactions or send/rcv addresses as yet. Unlike other nodes I run, when holding the cursor over the "HD" symbol, it says "HD key generation is enabled". Other nodes say "disabled". What's that about? Wallet on the new node is encrypted and currently locked. TIA.

The truth is people believing in big blocks were the majority of the original Bitcoin BTC community.
The truth is people believing in big blocks were the majority of the original Bitcoin BTC community. Polls on bitcointalk.org showed support for big block plans like BIP101 at over 80%. However, not everyone was the same in terms of passion and purity for the original big-block vision outlined by Satoshi. So when the network split between different big-block and small-block ideologies happened, August 1, 2017 when BCH forked, only a handful of the most passionate big-block supporters went and became the Bitcoin Cash community. The rest just remained with BTC and the most passionate small-blockers, on censored discussion areas.
As for the "hate" you talk about that's an interesting story. Imagine a thief robbing your house then being furious at you in court. That's essentially how small-blockers behave toward big-blockers. Their version of BTC is not how the inventor, Satoshi Nakamoto, intended it to be. They won't deny this. So how can they be so angry? I think it's because they know deep down they're on the wrong side of things, and they lash out angrily similar to a child throwing a tantrum. Bitcoin Cash supporters don't exactly love small-blockers, and we're certainly angry they refused to compromise and work with us to carry BTC forward in line with the original plan, but we don't trash talk them. We don't call BTC a "shitcoin". We say if their plan really is best then let it be proven in the marketplace. That seems logical and fair. Yet small-blockers hang around the big-blocker discussion areas talking trash when we don't do the same in return. That should make people think.
Last, regarding your question "I'm invested in both. Am I a bad person?" the answer is that's absolutely fine. Big-blockers believe in freedom of choice. If people don't mind paying high fees and want to use BTC that's absolutely fine. We don't get mad about that. On the other hand, people that choose BCH get harassed by small-blockers. Again, something to think about.

When I first got into Bitcoin it was all about building a network that would make fiat obsolete. Now BTC supporters are all about how much fiat it's worth.
{Serious} Why is there so much hate between bitcoin enthusiasts and bitcoin cash enthusiasts? Aren't we on the same team essentially?
I'm invested in both. Am I a bad person?

18.1 million bitcoin down, 2.9 million to go!
The number of bitcoin remaining to be mined gets smaller and smaller every day. You will have individuals, corporations, and governments all competing on the world stage to mine the rest. That should give anyone pause as you reflect on how hard it will be to get your hands on them.
Stay humble, stack sats my friends. Have a great weekend!

Looking for the "best" sub $1,000 miner for home.
I've always wanted to try mining and have some time now. Can anyone suggest a good single home miner, does such a thing exist?
(This is inplace of spending the $1,000 directly on BCH of course).

How likely is it that Bitcoin will be linked to NFC instead of QR codes and long address numbers in the future?
Was just curious if it was possible to link Bitcoin wallet payments to chips to pay for things in daily life.
Since there are so many fintech options out there, which make paying in stores easier. Like contactless payments, and now also mobile, such as apple pay / google pay.
Lightning payments or normal BTC payments I think have to get rid of the QR code and long numerical numbers.
How likely is it that we see push notifications and direct biometric checks for BTC payments on all phones?

New features for SLP-based airdrop token DROP. DROP is changing.
Hello,
I'm excited to share the incoming change to DROP token. This is what we've been working on over the past weeks.
For those of you have who don't know, DROP is an Bitcoin Cash SLP-based token which allows you to receive on-chain token airdrops. DROP was created by Cryptophyl. You can either buy it, or earn it for trading. There are airdrops of DROP every month for traders. DROP didn't have an ICO and 100% is given to users of Cryptophyl and the SLP community. One example was a 7000 DROP (~$3000) contribution to the recent SLP hackathon.
Cryptophyl.com was the first exchange to list some of the major SLP tokens and has become the most liquid exchange for trading SLP tokens and BCH.
It's been exciting to list several SLP tokens on Cryptophyl and to see the strong month-on-month growth in the SLP trading ecosystem and volume.
I saw some posts yesterday on this sub bashing SLP volume for being artificial or wash. It was interesting to see that the users involved in the chat didn't mention Cryptophyl. I'd like to point out that over the last two months we've seen an average daily SLP trading volume of just over $14k. Furthermore, we have a very strict anti-wash policy and don't count volume that we found as wash in that amount. All the growth we've seen in the market is fully organic.
As part of our mission to grow the token economy, we constantly strive to deliver value to our users. Over the last months we’ve received a lot of feedback about DROP. We’ve taken this feedback and combined it with our own innovative ideas to better the value proposition of DROP: from the issuance model to features for holders, we’ve redefined DROP token.
New changes to DROP token:
- 25% discount when using DROP to pay for trading fees
- Earn up to 50% for referring users by holding a minimum of 1500 DROP in your account
- New issuance model to distribute DROP over three years, increase scarcity and reward early adopters
- Minimum airdrop amount introduced for holders of DROP
You can learn more about DROP here: https://blog.cryptophyl.com/blog/redefining-drop-cryptophyls-native-exchange-token/
Thanks!

On Greg Maxwell, co founder of Blockstream, and the man who helped cripple Bitcoin:
I'm talking about the Greg who using his very own guilty by association logic, that Greg Maxwell and Adam Back were associated and therefore guilty of being involved with the Bitfinex hacking.
Or maybe it was the Greg Maxwell that was involved or guilty by association of the hacking and vote manipulation events that /r/bitcoin mods were involved with?
Or maybe it was the Greg Maxwell that was working with national spies to run surveillance on the Bitcoin community in order to subvert it?
Or maybe it was when Greg Maxwell that was engaging in vandalism on Wikipedia?
Or maybe it was the same Greg Maxwell that was intimately involved with Craig Wright working with him to try to disrupt both BCH and BSV camps?
Or maybe it is the Greg Maxwell that wrote the Bitcoin Core (BTC) roadmap that shows how Blockstream (who he was CTO at the time when this was written) has sole control over BTC and it's future?
But let's get back to guilt by association, maybe it's the same Greg that worked for Blockstream which is a company that was embroiled in the Epstein controversy?
How about when Greg, at the time CTO of Blockstream, was associated to Theymos, the biggest censor in the history of crypto, when their connection was discovered?

Cryptocurrency lending platform Nexo adds support for BCH
Since Aug. 2017 there are two Bitcoins:
Bitcoin Core, the one that kept the original BTC ticker despite having deviated from the Whitepaper; and Bitcoin Cash BCH, the one that refused to allow artificial limitations to stop Bitcoin's progress towards becoming p2p uncensorable money for the world.

Is bitcoin a better alternative to international money transfer than say, Western Union?
What if instead of using Western Union to send people money, is it not simpler to use something like Bitcoin to do that? Would there be lesser fees? What apps would be relevant for that now?
And how would the person turn bitcoin into their countries currency? Bitcoin ATM? Or is there a better way to do that now?
