Any crypto friendly video advertising networks?

I'm looking to run ads on video content on a personal site, just wondering if anyone knows of any advertising networks that would allow me to run ads and be payed in bch? (or alternatively btc).

Preferably with no traffic requirements.

Thanks in advance.

Bash one-liner to get the Bitcoin whitepaper directly from the blockchain

Someone encoded the whole bitcoin.pdf whitepaper in one giant transaction. You can use this command to recreate it. Requires a full node (pruned will do)

seq 0 947 | (while read -r n; do bitcoin-cli gettxout 54e48e5f5c656b26c3bca14a8c95aa583d07ebe84dde3b7dd4a78f4e4186e713 $n | jq -r '.scriptPubKey.asm' | awk '{ print $2 $3 $4 }'; done) | tr -d '\n' | cut -c 17-368600 | xxd -r -p > bitcoin.pdf

Gregory Maxwell, ex-Blockstream and Bitcoin Core developer on the Bitcoin White-paper: “...amazing and historically interesting but practically irrelevant document on a website that can easily be found in thousands of other places.”

Gregory believes that the Bitcoin White-paper is irrelevant because Bitcoin lives-on through code (which his affiliates happen to maintain) and the BTC instance of Bitcoin.

Greg is actually mistaken.

The Bitcoin White-paper is extremely important.

For example, BTC today is NOT the Bitcoin described in the White-paper: Bitcoin was never meant to be limited in its transaction capacity nor was it meant to have those extremely high transaction fees BTC currently suffers from. The opposite is true: Bitcoin is meant to always offer near-free (and even free) transactions.

The Bitcoin white-paper is NOT irrelevant, it’s actually extremely important as it anchors that Bitcoin is peer to peer electronic cash.

The other use-cases such as Gold 2.0 and Store-of-Value are the result of Bitcoin’s frictionless utility as peer to peer electronic cash with 0 trusted third parties, and with a very specific set of incentives distributed among its users and miners.

People value utility, and you can store value in what other people value.

There is no value without utility, and utility in Bitcoin is the result of solving the Byzantine generals problem.

BTC today cannot offer Bitcoin’s utility (peer to peer electronic cash) at global and cash-like scale without compromising the Byzantine generals problem solution presented in Bitcoin (and defined in the White-paper).

Lightning Network, Liquid and all off-chain solutions inherently violate the Byzantine generals problem solution presented in the Bitcoin White-paper.

The reason Gregory considers the White-paper as irrelevant is because BTC fails the Bitcoin description in the White-paper, and for all that he cares, good riddance.

Bitcoin as described in the White-paper continues unchanged and full throttle as peer to peer electronic cash for the world here on Bitcoin Cash (hence the name).

As for BSV and other forks of Bitcoin, the very reason for which the Bitcoin White-paper is being discussed today is the reason for which I’d never ever use them.

I fucked up.

So, as the title suggests. I Fucked up big time.

I've been in crypto since 2017, been putting all my extra cash into the markets since then. Been active in communites and definitely confident about the future of crypto.

Ill skip to my fuckup.

I had recently decided to trade using leverage, started small and did my research.

Today, I saw an opportunity with bitcoins sideways pullback and supports, and I was confident. Too confident. i bought in at 20x leverage, things were going well, i bought a bit above the bottom, and then bought in again nearly perfectly getting the reversal.

Here is my series of mistakes that turned into a big fuckup: Normally ill judge the bounce and buy in again on the ride up if im confident, small fluctuations in price wont get me liquidated, wait, not get too greedy and close.

I decided to use 125x leverage on my last buy. Dumb i know. but still, it was my smallest buy and i was confident in the returns, if theres a fluctuation i'd just add to the position.

I clicked 125x, didnt read the warning i got, ( after all, time is money)

and then, something seemed off. I only had One position open. Then, tiny fluctuation, i see -50%, -80%, panic a bit and try to close. Boom, Liquidated.

I didnt know that the Entire position goes 125x.

Entire balance of over 3 years. wiped.

Dont be as reckless as me. I't feels like shit.

Im going to slowly try and rebuild.. Staying meathodical and being much more conservative with my risk.

But fuck, this sucks.

Hello noobs, freaking out yet?

It looks like we’ve experienced our first 30% correction for this cycle. Did you know in 2017, whenever bitcoin had a 30+% correction, it was followed by a rally doubled or more in just a few weeks? And there were FIVE 30+% corrections in 2017. Did you sell? Hodling strong? Did you buy the dip? If you bought the dip, cookies for you! That’s it, have a good day/night where ever you are!

Anyone else remember the 50% drop last March?

I remember going to bed and we were sitting around $8k. Woke up the next morning and we were at $4k. Honestly wasn’t even phased (been in crypto since 2016; I was somewhat desensitized by that point)

Remember everyone freaking out? I don’t, because we were back up just over a month later. With crypto in the spotlight again, the FUD is real and novice bitcoiners have a lot weaker hands than the hodlers

Bitcoin Rhapsody

Is this the real bull market?
Is this just fantasy?
Price dropped in a landslide
No escape from 2018

Open your eyes
Look up to the charts and see

I'm just a poor boy, I need no sympathy

Because the pump easy come, easy go
Profit high, profit low
Anyway the FOMO goes, doesn't really matter to me, to me

Mama, just bought bitcoin
Bought it all in all time high’s head
Went all in, now crypto’s dead

Mama, thought the run had just begun
But now I've gone and thrown it all away

Mama, ooo

Should have at least converted to DAI
If pump’s not back again this time tomorrow
Carry on, carry on, as if nothing really matters

Too late, liquidation has come
My longs all failed, good bye
Altcoins's aching all the time

Goodbye everybody - I've got to go
Gotta leave my bags behind and face the truth
Mama, ooo - (anyway the pump blows)
Bought ETH and ADA too
I sometimes wish I'd never been bought coins at all

[epic guitar solo]

I see a little hopium in the crypto twitter
Reddit too, reddit too, said we have instituions
But the price is falling - very very frightening me

Michael Saylor, Michael Saylor,
Greayscale, Greyscale,
BlackRock fund now here we go – magnifico

But I'm just a poor boy and none of my coins pump
He's just a poor boy sold his ETH for shitcoins
Spare him his holds from this FUD caused by COVID

Easy come easy go - will you let me sell
Bismillah! No - we will not let you FUD - let him FUD
Bismillah! We will not let you FUD - let him FUD
Bismillah! We will not let you FUD - let me FUD
Will not let you FUD - let me FUD (never)
Never let you FUD - let me FUD
Never let me FUD - ooo
No, no, no, no, no, no, no -
Oh mama mia, mama mia, mama mia let me FUD

Beelzebub has a tiktok astro witch for me
For me
For me

So you think you can dump me and spit in my eye
Now my coins are all pumping ‘cause of the new halving
Oh baby – bitcoin to 1M baby
2020 bull run began - just gotta get my profits here

[epic solo]

Ooh yeah, ooh yeah

Run is over now again
Anyone can see
And I took no profits out - nothing really matters to me

Holding now till 2024...

Created a New Subreddit Dedicated to Monitoring the Regulatory Space Surrounding Crypto -- for those Long-Term Hodlers.

If anyone is interested, I started a new community where you can get (and I'm hesitant to use this word) centralized and concise information about the regulatory environment surrounding cryptocurrency.

Posts will contain only the summarized and professional commentary from the source linked therein. The requirement is that the source, inclusive of the event or proposal, be either from a government or major financial institution (it sucks, I know). But the goal is to stay away from opinion, speculation, and clickbait pieces, and this will allow cryptocurrency users to stay updated on real-time policy—and how it might affect their holdings. There will be absolutely no opinion or interpretation of the policy in the post. The comment section will be open for thoughtful discussion and questions to help clarify the language in the post.

Low-effort, opinionated, and overtly critical comments will be discarded. There will also be no political discussion.

For someone like me that has a large part of their savings in cryptocurrency, it is extremely important to stay educated and informed on this new developing space. With crypto's recent uptick in popularity and mainstream adoption, the number of organizations overseeing this space are growing, and their proposals are becoming lengthier and more complex. Thus, it's extremely important to have a community that follows their/this involvement.

(The subreddit is r/CryptoMonitor for those interested.)

Bitcoin is not threatening banks, Bitcoin threatens Central banks.

I know that banks have a bad reputation, but they are in charge of a crucial economic task in a healthy capitalist system: they connect lenders and borrowers; they canalize resources (savings) from people that don't have ideas, to people that have ideas but need resources to implement them. They move the capital trhoughout the economy from those who create it to those who put it to produce wealth.

The success of Bitcoin goes through banks integrating with bitcoin, custodying bitcoins from investors, transferring value using bitcoin's network (instead of shitty SWIFT channels), embracing bitcoin in a regulated, secure, mature finantial network that everyone already trusts.

We don't want to substitute banks by unsafe, unprotected, phone applications that can bankrupt tomorrow like Celsius, Ledn, etc.

And no, not everyone wants to be his own bank: some people wants to pay someone else to do that job.

And yes, DeFi is promising, but it is just that, a promise. Bitcoin is already here and it needs to be generaly adopted fast.

Bitcoin is here to create hard scarcity in relation to weak scarcity provided by Central Banks.

In fact, Bitcoin is GOOD for the banks.

The elephant in the room. Everyday $60 million+ of NEW money needs to flow into crypto just to keep the market afloat!

Just a quick calculation of the top coins mined per day tells a story of a market out of wack. This mean a net positive $60 million going in everyday just to keep prices stable.

Does this seem reasonable to you guys? Is there really that much money in the world? Then, the $0.5 million for BCH makes sense by itself but no way is $27 million going into eth every single day.

BTC: 900 * $35,000 = $31.5 million

ETH: (6,500 blocks * 3 ETH) * $1,400 = $27 million

LTC: 7,200 * $150 = $1 million

BCH: 900 * 500 = $0.5 million

XMR: 1,150 * $150 = $0.2 million

I’ve built a decentralized bank

In my last post, I had the idea to build a decentralized bank on top of bitcoin cash

I’ve built it. Swype is a NON CUSTODIAL piece of software that sits on top of crypto wallets. Currently I’m supporting bitcoin cash and eth, but will expand to other currencies.

You can hold your entire net worth on your OWN wallets, stick the Swype stack on top of your wallet, and sign transactions to spend crypto as fiat at the point of sale.

For now, we’re running our own chainlink nodes (so it’s technically centralized) but we’re planning to let anyone anywhere run a chainlink node to verify transactions.

Within a few months, once we solve the KYC problem - you’ll be able to use Swype with your own wallets, in almost every wallet format.

No more banks. No more censorship.

You’ll soon be able to store your entire net worth as crypto, but still spend it as fiat, and no one can stop you.

Question about BCH

Been reading this forum for a few weeks now and finally bit the bullet and bought some BCH.

So this subreddit makes it very clear what the actual utility is if BCH vs BTC in terms of easier/faster/cheaper transactions, got that.

In terms of scarcity, is the theoretical quantity of BCH the same as BTC?

Obviously one is the benefits of BTC is the fact that there is a limit on how many can ever exist, is this also true of BCH?

Thanks.

Which Raspberry Pi-hosted bitcoin node projects would you recommend?

I'm going to get a Rasberry Pi soon to set up my bitcoin and LN nodes at home. From the little I read, it seems that there are a lot of RasPi-hosted bitcoin and LN nodes nowadays!

  1. Raspibolt
  2. Raspiblitz
  3. Umbrel
  4. MyNode
  5. Dojo
  6. Embassy
  7. did I miss one/some..?
  8. Casa Node (edit: added based on reply below)

I'd love to have your thoughts and opinions on them, such as:

  • Which project has the biggest development team/activity?
  • Which one has the most bitcoin-related apps?
  • Which has the largest community of users?
  • Which one would you recommend the most? (the least..?)
  • Is the paid version worth it or do you prefer to DYI and manage all the updates and apps yourself?

Thanks!

The age of cryptodildonics is upon us: Introducing CoinToys.fun and FreeVibe, a BCH powered vibrator!

Hey everyone. I’m Nick! I’m a long time Bitcoin Casher and a first time poster. I’m also one of three members of the CoinToys.fun team participating in the Coinparty Bitcoin Cash hackathon.

We had infrastructure problems on Heroku all day yesterday so we didn’t have enough time to properly cut our project submission video and demonstrate everything we accomplished over the week.

So here is a video that demonstrates our flagship product in action. It’s called FreeVibe! From what we can tell, it is the worlds very first cryptocurrency powered sex toy. We built it with cammers and online sex workers in mind. It gives them the means to do what they do without having to use payment intermediaries who commonly take up to half of the money they earn. Give the video a watch and tell us what you think!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SnYIbwCj5AE

If you want to know more about how it works, check out our project submission video at the link below. Among other things, it gives a walkthrough of how to set a new device, and showcases the companion website, https://cointoys.fun.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v17SblzXHQI

Big shoutout to my team members, Ashley and JetScythe . I asked too much of them and they delivered it anyway. I couldn’t have asked for a better team.

If you like our project and want to vote for us, here's a QR you can scan to send your SLP vote tokens to: https://cointoys.fun/images/slp-address-qr.png

I don’t expect we’ll win the hackathon given the trouble we had with our submission but we want to bring this project to life and get it in people’s hands. If you want to help us do that, send me an email at nick at 2fat dot co .

I want to clear up one of the largest misconceptions about GBTC. 80% of their newly issued shares are through BTC purchases NOT USD purchases

I see this common misconception a ton and Grayscale doesn't seem to want to clear it up, imo this is intentional. GBTC allows what is called an in kind purchase, where you send them BTC and they issue you the amount of shares at the end of the day.

This is not a taxable event and you can sell it on the market (for a premium in the past) after a 6 month period, you have to be an accredited investor though. In the past when the premium was higher than the taxes the seller would incur, they could hypothetically sell the coins and make money or pay less taxes. This arbitrage is what many people are doing to raise their cost averages.

They don't release the numbers of in kind purchases versus USD purchases, but from the last time they did at the end of 2019 it was 80% in kind versus 20% USD. I believe this ratio is more or less the same or only slightly higher as I have asked them multiple times to release the numbers, but they wont.

So when you see headlines like "GBTC buys 700M worth of bitcoin!", realize only 20% of that is probably USD purchased.

With Yellen parroting the same nonsense thats already been disproven, I cant wait for another country to absolutely take bitcoin by the horns and flourish.

She's saying the same rubbish about bitcoin being used for terrorism and money laundering, despite chainalysis' report saying that in 2019, just 1.1% of transactions were being used for illegal activity: https://blog.chainalysis.com/reports/cryptocurrency-crime-2020-report

If countries like the US want to stifle innovation rather than embrace it, I cant wait for a sensible administration in another country to lap up bitcoin and flourish.

Announcing the Bitcoin Core Usage Survey

Today I'm launching the Bitcoin Core usage survey. This survey is aimed at gathering information about how people use Bitcoin Core so that we can improve it in the future. If you have any feedback about Bitcoin Core that you want to share, this survey is a great place to do that.

Click here to take the survey

As I know that many people are concerned about their privacy, this survey is designed to protect your privacy as much as possible. The survey is configured so that there are no trackers and no IP information is stored. Even so, if you want to use Tor, feel free to do so. I've tested that Tor doesn't break the survey (no annoying CAPTCHAs and no broken JS). Questions that ask for any information that could be identifying or privacy revealing are either optional or have an "opt out" type of answer.

For more information about the survey which breaks down why each question is being asked, see this blog post: https://achow101.com/2021/01/bitcoin-core-survey

Almost Bought a Lottery Ticket Today. I Never Buy Lottery Tickets, Came to My Senses & Decided to Put the $30 Into Bitcoin Instead

IDK why the urge even came over me since I literally never, EVER buy lottery tix, but i even had the $30 ticket in hand and I was ready to get my card out and pay for it before i came to my senses and gave it back to the cashier. I immediately put that money into Coinbase. Going to keep that mentality going into the future whenever I find myself thinking about making any sort of spur-of-the-moment, impulsive purchases.

Ps. Can anyone recommend a better exchange than Coinbase pro? It seems easy enough and it has worked for me so far, just have heard people favor other services instead. Am fairly new to the game and am learning more every day, would appreciate any and all recs!

why was block compacting never done?

i've seen this in the white paper:

Reclaiming Disk SpaceOnce the latest transaction in a coin is buried under enough blocks, the spent transactions beforeit can be discarded to save disk space. To facilitate this without breaking the block's hash, transactions are hashed in a Merkle Tree [7][2][5], with only the root included in the block's hash.Old blocks can then be compacted by stubbing off branches of the tree. The interior hashes donot need to be stored. A block header with no transactions would be about 80 bytes. If we suppose blocks aregenerated every 10 minutes, 80 bytes * 6 * 24 * 365 = 4.2MB per year. With computer systemstypically selling with 2GB of RAM as of 2008, and Moore's Law predicting current growth of1.2GB per year, storage should not be a problem even if the block headers must be kept inmemory.

is there some reason why that can't be done? the bitcoin blockchain, the longest so far, should only be 4.2MBx10 years = 42MB total?!

New Subreddit to Monitor Regulatory Space Surrounding Crypto

The comment section will be open for thoughtful discussion and questions to help clarify the post. Low-effort, opinionated, and overtly critical comments will be discarded.

Thus it's extremely important to have a community that follows their/this involvement.
