I have to get something off my chest
I expect to get nailed with the downvotes for this, so goodbye to my fake internet points. However, something has been bothering me for awhile about this sub and I need to actually pose a rhetorical question or two.
Does anyone else see the hypocrisy in always evaluating BTC against fiat? I mean, there are people that call themselves true “HODLers”, but if BTC shot to the moon, I guarantee they would try to cash out and buy a Lambo or whatever the new meme happens to be at that time. Isn’t that missing the point of owning crypto?
To me, owning crypto currency (let’s just say BTC so as to not confuse investment with trading shit coins) is about preparing yourself for the future of commerce. If centralized banks ever crumble (unlikely in the near future), or the world actually agrees on moving to one standard (yeah...), then owning shares of BTC will be a life jacket during the transitional phases.
Owning BTC and constantly comparing it to fiat, hoping for it to “moon”, just seems like it is against everything crypto-currency is supposed to stand for. If you don’t have it sitting in an offline wallet somewhere, you are probably just waiting to convert it back to fiat at some point.
Just my 2 satoshis. Good day.

The importance of culture, integrity, and making sure we get "the small things" right.
Do you ever have one of those existential moments where you feel like "the big things" people do for you are ultimately shallow? And then later that day or that week it's something simple, a "small thing" that really touches you in an emotional way? Why are we humans like this? Because we know that when people try to perform elaborate acts to please us, it's mostly just for attention and reputation. When people go out of their way to do small things to please us, it's because on a fundamental human level, they care.
It's nice that have a new cool toy on Bitcoin.com, or it's nice that retail adoption for BCH is booming. But when's the last time, and I speak for myself here too, when's the last time you spent that energy to uplift a single noob? Taking time out of your day to uplift or onboard a single person to BCH? Instead of making noise, repeating shallow praises about BCH or empty curses at BTC/the banks, what if you used your energy to perform a single, small, but meaningful deed?
Now I'm not religious, so don't take this as religion. But if you look at the story of Christ, he wasn't all about parading through town, glorifying himself or his most cared for followers, or screaming his ideas at the top of his lungs. He helped the poor, the sick, and the sinners. He took time out of his day, his extremely limited and valuable time, and he helped people that did not deserve him. And for what? Because it's always the small things that make a difference in our lives.
I think that type of attitude needs to be more embraced in BCH. Less fighting, less pride, less boasting about the big things. We need to humble ourselves to the lowest level, and then start from a position of wanting to love and help others. Crypto isn't about getting rich. Bitcoin Cash is not about "getting 30 bitcoins BCH for every Bitcoin BTC". Its not about any of that. It's about helping people achieve financial freedom. And why should you want to help them? If you're helping them for any reason outside of loving them, then you're doing it for the wrong reasons. And they'll sense that. If they sense that you're just pushing a ideology, or that you want to just enrich yourself, they'll be turned off. If you don't start the conversation from a position of love, the message of ultimately giving them more financial freedom won't go through right.
And this isn't me being religious. This isn't hippie talk either. Nobody on this planet dislikes feeling loved, and everyone on this planet who isn't constantly miserable loves something or someone. Even if you don't fully recognize it. It's a deep feeling within. Love is the most powerful emotion, and it's not just a reaction. It's also a choice. You can choose to be loving, even if you don't feel loved. Love is ultimately something you should build into your actions, not an end to itself. The end should be increasing the happiness in the world, doing unto others as you wished others would do unto you.
And there is a saying, perfect love casts out all fear. And it also casts out all darkness.
When you truly do things out of love for other people and for making the world a better place, people can sense it, and they become more receptive. When you truly do things out of love, you become humbled by your opponents rather than angered, and you can even find the energy to love your enemies. When love casts out the arrogance in your heart, your heart and mind opens up to new truth and ideas that it may have previously refused to see.
The culture of Bitcoin Cash should be a shining beacon to the world. We should be the light that cuts away darkness. We should be the hope that fills people's hearts.
We should not be, and we should not associate with, people who work in darkness. People who try to con others into "making huge money", who try to play into people's lust, selfishness, and greed, who tell them that nobody's any good and everyone's just as good as anybody, these are the people we should be weary of. And to be weary is not to hate, but to feel sorrow for, and to protect others from.
On this subject, I do not think Bitcoin.com should make the unwise decision to support scams like HEX, as this really can't serve any purpose outside of blinding people from the real point of crypto, which is to make the world a better place. Richard is not a man of light, he's an antichrist of good, and you can see it in his values. He values getting rich for nothing, he values looking good rather than being good, he values vanity and expensive apparel, he values engaging in high-time-preferenced activity. He does not value helping people who needs help, stopping the State from hurting innocent people, or creating an honest business model that creates more economic goods and financial freedom for the world.
If we are to improve our culture, we need to start with our own hearts. We need to not be tempted to work in darkness in order to justify possible material gain at the expense of others, and we need to differentiate good from evil. After we absolve ourselves of these temptations, the next step is to help others. Not just yourself, help others in the act of helping others. Teach people how to help others. Lead by example, not by word.
We need to learn forgiveness, mercy, humility, ambition, and most importantly, love. Selfishness, lust, and pride all detract from your inner virtue. Businessmen that only care about getting money quick usually fall short of their goals, but businessmen who have it in their minds to help others will more naturally figure out how to best serve the economy. Intentions matter.
Culture in BCH is important. We don't achieve that by censorship of course, but by leading by example. And listing scams with zero utility is not leading by example. Other cryptocurrencies may lack value proposition, like BTC, but they are not scams created by scammers, they are just ideas in lack of real utility and meaning, who will fail slowly and softly like all the rest.
So please. Don't use your energy to mess with shady projects like HEX. Continue using your energy to make the world a better place with more financial freedom, and don't be a stumbling block for your enemies.
~ With love, many within the BCH community
