I have to get something off my chest

I expect to get nailed with the downvotes for this, so goodbye to my fake internet points. However, something has been bothering me for awhile about this sub and I need to actually pose a rhetorical question or two.

Does anyone else see the hypocrisy in always evaluating BTC against fiat? I mean, there are people that call themselves true “HODLers”, but if BTC shot to the moon, I guarantee they would try to cash out and buy a Lambo or whatever the new meme happens to be at that time. Isn’t that missing the point of owning crypto?

To me, owning crypto currency (let’s just say BTC so as to not confuse investment with trading shit coins) is about preparing yourself for the future of commerce. If centralized banks ever crumble (unlikely in the near future), or the world actually agrees on moving to one standard (yeah...), then owning shares of BTC will be a life jacket during the transitional phases.

Owning BTC and constantly comparing it to fiat, hoping for it to “moon”, just seems like it is against everything crypto-currency is supposed to stand for. If you don’t have it sitting in an offline wallet somewhere, you are probably just waiting to convert it back to fiat at some point.

Just my 2 satoshis. Good day.
