The blockchain trilemma

The blockchain trilemma

You can't have it all, everything in blockchain is a tradeoff. Choose 2 out of 3, that is the basic concept of 'the blockchain trilemma'. This is often used as the reason bitcoin not scale or blockchain has some inherent problem.

I think most of us can agree you do not simply have to choose 2/3 a neglect the 3rd aspect because blockchain would not work, yet here we are.

i'm curious what the community thinks of this concept.

Is everything in blockchain a tradeoff?

how would you explain the scaling debate using this triangle?

Is it fair to say BitcoinCash sacrificed a little decentralisation by getting rid of some raberryPIs & other small hobby nodes (mining on btc was quite centralized anyways so that didn't change) for scaling?

Scaling and security are goals on its own. Decentralisation is the means by which achieve censorshipresistance.

did we sacrifice on censorship resistance?

i'm very interested to see what other ppl think!

EDIT* if everything a tradeoff, what is it for CTOR?
