How to buy btc in Japan?

I have a question for those who live in other countries (namely Japan)....

How to you go about buying btc (or even bitcoin for that matter).

I made a coinbase account to try them out, but then am told they cannot sell to my country.

I want to just start small and test the waters when it comes to purchasing some currency.

I have been using btc to receive payments for the past few weeks (month) for items I sell online and all has been going well so far, but I will want to start spending that money myself eventually so figuring out the buying/selling of currency is the next step for me.
