Basically what happened is we had the original btc slack run by /u/bitsko, and csw was coming there for a while and everything was cool. Then trolls started getting to csw, and things got inflamed. Things got toxic, and there was a fight between csw and Peter Rizun and basically csw said he didn't want to come to the slack anymore while Peter was there.
So the old slack continued open and free, but also there was a new slack that was created for csw, and the ones causing problems for him were not invited. I think it was always meant to be a private slack, and not an open one like the original. So I think its a little unfair the criticisms for banning deadalnix, when others like Peter Rizun are also banned there from my understanding. I guess if some people were creating a private channel or multi-PM on the original slack and inviting/banning who they want then it wouldn't be looked at as a big deal, but since it was an entirely new slack it is more alarming to people who did not know the full backstory.
Personally I prefer open spaces for discussion and free speech, with trolls allowed. We learned what censorship can do to a community. But I wanted everyone to have the full back story of these slack channels and what happened, so they can decide for themselves.
