Ripple, the third-largest cryptocurrency in the world had a major setback when its price plunged to a new low in 2018 along with the price of Litecoin. However, despite the dip, XRP still has support from the investment world as it has been recognized by Bitcoin Superstore as a payment mode.
It has been not a good time for the cryptocurrency space lately as the overall market cap had a dismissal performance dropping from 255 billion USD to 231 billion USD. The fate of leading cryptocurrencies such as Ripple (XRP) and Litecoin (LTC) was not something to cheer about either.
Things are in pretty bad shape for Litecoin as it fell to its lowest price this year. The value of the currency declined by 8.9 percent from its earlier low price at 72.65 USD. The cryptocurrency was one of the major losers as on August 7.
However, despite its negative performance, the development of the project continues. Charlie Lee, the creator of Litecoin shared that he is collaborating with HTC to launch the first Blockchain-powered smartphone in the world. The smartphone will be called the HTC Exodus.
Support For Litecoin Despite Its Price Fall
The situation for the third largest digital currency by market cap is no better. The price of Ripple has declined to 0.35 USD from its earlier yearly low price of 0.42 USD in July.
Ripple is going through tough times it seems. In a recent development, Coinbase made a decision to list ETC (Ethereum Classic) rather than Ripple (XRP). The CEO of Western Union mentioned that the coin had not made a significant impact on their organization.
Despite these developments, it appears that the Ripple cryptocurrency has a plenty of supporters. Bitcoin Superstore, an online retailer made an important announcement on August 6 that can become a game changer for the currency.
According to Coinspeaker, the retailer declared that Ripple (XRP) will be officially accepted by the platform as a payment mode. The official announcement further added that Ripple can now be used for buying items on more than 200,000 online stores. Some of the major players who would accept the currency include Starbucks, Nike, Visa, Walmart, and Amazon.
