Asking Andreas M. Antonopoulos to accept donations over lightning network ⚡ •Now on r/Bitcoin

Currently there are no good options to do tipping on LN:

  • Reuse old invoice (insecure and not supported by some wallets/nodes)
  • Recipient needs to run a LN node and create a new invoice for every tip (maintennace/setup effort)
  • Sender pays himself (S->R->S) and leaves tip as routing fee with recipient (not supported by wallets currently)

I can accept donations via LN, charge 10% commission and send the rest via Bitcoin once a month, if it's too difficult.

lightning devs still haven't announced a stable and secure release for lightning protocol, so it's understandable.

Interesting. You have to keep in mind that Lightning is still in its infancy, and a lot of developers don't recommend it outside of testnet. It will be interesting to see Andreas' response.
