Global blockchain technology will be now used in the management of global plastic crisis as per the latest reports. SC Johnson a leading name in the field of household cleaning supplies in the United States has joined hands with environmental organization Plastic Bank in order to open recycling centers of plastic in Indonesia. The key feature of these setups is that they will be offering token to the local population for waste collection.
This plastic bank will help the market leader SC Johnson owning brands like Glade, Ziploc, and Mr. Muscle to bring a revolution in the field of plastic recycling. A total of eight collection centers are said to be opened across the country Indonesia and the first one has been inaugurated at the tourist hub Bali. The rest of the centers are under work and will be operational by May next year. After the successful completion, these setups in Indonesia the company is planning to launch more such centers in other Asian countries. However, no name has been announced by the company officials as of now.
The local plastic collectors will be receiving digital tokens against plastic waste in this center which can be used for buying stuff through a decentralized system. A global blockchain powered system will be used for issuing tokens that will diminish the alleged risk of theft or loss in the process of remuneration. The founder and CEO of Plastic Bank David Katz believe that such ledger based platform is not only going to make a big impact on the problem of ocean pollution but will radically reduce the poverty level in the country.
