Locked out out Blockchain wallet! It won't accept the password and has no recovery setup, is it gone forever? Has anyone else had this problem in the last week, could it be a glitch?

We have some bitcoin in this wallet but when my partner went to log in it wouldn't accept the password. He knows it is the correct password but Blockchain refuses it. He didn't set up anything to recover it unfortunately and it's frustrating that it could be (probably is) gone forever. Anyone had the same problem, was it ever resolved or recovered?

Just want to add, I'm a bit of a bitcoin novice. I understand how it works on a basic level but this is way above my knowledge! Thank you.
