Everipedia – The World’s Largest Encyclopedia Built On Blockchain

Everipedia, the world’s biggest encyclopedia based on blockchain technology declared the launch of its long-awaited peer-to-peer encyclopedia on August 10, utilizing EOS.IO technology.

The new system utilizes blockchain technology to award users with “IQ” tokens for curating and editing articles. These tokens qualify the token holder for governance and voting rights within the network, basically making each proofreader a partner in the system. The objective of the ecosystem is to democratize the traditional encyclopedia model and economically adjust the incentives of the value makers and value extractors. This model intends to a completely self-governing encyclopedia without the requirement for commercials or donations. Moreover, the decentralized nature of how the articles are stored using blockchain technology and how it essentially makes the system un-censorable.

As the co-founder of Wikipedia and Chief Information Officer of Everipedia, Dr. Larry Sanger, is a perceived industry pioneer in the online encyclopedia space, and he believes blockchain technology is making new things conceivable that will improve on Wikipedia’s traditional model and disrupt the online knowledge space.

“We are elated to release our minimum viable network which enables users to vote on and create articles in a decentralized manner for the first time,” said Dr. Larry Sanger.

To start creating content and voting on the new network, clients may visit iqnetwork.io. No user registration is required and just an EOS record and IQ tokens are needed to interact with the protocol.

Everipedia co-founder and president Sam Kazemian declared that so far 16.8 million IQ has been staked by users on the network.

As reported by The Auto Channel, Everipedia has millions of unique month to month visitors and around six million encyclopedia articles, outperforming English Wikipedia by content. Everipedia also has an expansive community of more than 8,000 volunteers, fans and editors by means of Telegram and other noticeable social networks such as Reddit and Facebook.

Everipedia is expecting the number of its editors to just develop with the new incentive model introduced.
