A recent survey in Russia revealed some interesting information pertaining to the crypto space. Approximately, half of the people of Russia are aware of digital currencies. The survey findings inferred that about 13 percent of Russians have quite a good understanding of cryptocurrency.
The survey results were shared on August 7 and conducted by ROMIR, a research holding firm. The firm represents the famous Gallup International Association organization in Russia. The research firm had surveyed 1,500 residents of Russia to know their awareness level of cryptocurrency and their plans on getting associated with the industry.
Out of these respondents, about 44 percent said that they know about cryptocurrency and 13 percent responded by saying that their crypto understanding was good. However, 56 percent of the participants did not know the meaning of the word.
Another interesting finding from the survey was around 31 percent responded by saying that they can imagine what digital currencies are. However, they added their lack of understanding of the term cryptocurrency clearly.
The country is in the process of making its regulatory approach formal with respect to different aspects of the cryptocurrency. The approach also includes formalizing regulations for exchange, mining, and taxation of digital assets.
Russian Lawmakers Sent Mixed Signals On Cryptocurrency For Years
Lawmakers in Russia have sent mixed signals for several years pertaining to the legality issues of Bitcoin in particular. The good news is the success of the maiden reading of the draft bill package related to Blockchain and cryptocurrencies earlier this year. However, the government has not yet given their formal approvals to the statutes as law.
Another interesting finding of this survey has been an association between the knowledge level of the crypto space and income level, according to Cointelegraph. In fact, people within the lower income bracket seem to have more knowledge about cryptocurrency.
Meanwhile, another survey was conducted by the VCIOM (All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion) in January this year. The survey findings indicated over 56 percent of the residents of Russia knew of Bitcoin. It also noted that about 74 percent Russians in Moscow had heard about cryptocurrency.
