Introducing ground-breaking Flipstarter Science and Research on the Flip-Dash (The Flipstarter Campaign dashboard of One.Surgery)

Introducing ground-breaking Flipstarter Science and Research on the Flip-Dash (The Flipstarter Campaign dashboard of One.Surgery)

Since One.Surgery is currently leading an ambitious Flipstarter campaign to help fund affordable, and sustainable scientific publication in an ethical format throughout the world, we thought we would have some science fun with our Flipstarter campaign and the fascinating metrics and charts available from all the heartfelt donations we have received so far. We host all these charts on our live campaign "Flip-Dash": https://one.surgery/flipstarter-dashboard/ but here is a breakdown of some of the charts and stats:

Baseline metrics

This of course is basic statistics - what the flipstarter is after, the running total pledge amount, number of donors and how far you have gotten with your percentage progress. This information is also shared as standard on the native Flipstarter app.

The Pledge tracker

Again, rather self explanatory - the amount of BCH and number of donations received per day of the campaign. Although basic, this will certainly help campaign managers track any spike in donations to any new marketing promotions they are running for their campaign. We hypothesize that there will always be a spike at the beginning, when the campaign launches (as pre-launch interested parties have a chance to declare their early support), and a spike at the end, where cautious observers or more affluent BCH holders declare last minute support to get the flip over the line. We feel the make / break of the flip therefore are the middle days - and how much energy one puts in to gather \"middle ground interest\" to keep the momentum going. We call this strategy: \"Block party down the middle!\"

The Flip-Dash ratio

The Flipstarter is a race against time - either you meet the campaign target within the defined campaign time period, or you go home with nothing! There are no halfsies or \"keep what you get concept\"! This is a non-custodial ball game - you truly go big or go home. And so the entire campaign is a careful calculation on how long to run the campaign and the amount of BCH required to succeed in your project goals. This allows us to run the flip-dash ratio - a live determinant of how you are doing in the critical flip-dash race - essentially comparing how much BCH you need vs your percentage of time remaining. A ratio of 1 and above demonstrates you are keeping pace with the goal, and below 1 is you are behind the curve. The lower your flip-dash ratio is, the worse you are doing! As you can see, we are running at a flip-dash ratio on 0.87 and so unfortunately we are behind, and at real risk of falling short if we continue at this current pace.

We call this feature \"Flip blocks\" for obvious reasons, in a salute to the all powerful blockchain! This chart helps to demonstrate the spread of your flip block donations, and the number of BCH blocks building in different size formats to get you to the Flipstarter goal. It nicely demonstrates the number of microdonations stacking up with small pledges comparted to medium sized BCH blocks, or whether you are lucky enough to get one big whale block to hit the campaign target out of the water!

Well, One.Surgery has worked passionately in our 9 day campaign so far, and despite it all, we remain behind the flip-dash ratio - still on edge to see how this campaign will go.

Please consider just one fact in this work

If you have enjoyed our graphs and "Flip science", we would love for you to consider just one simple fact. We will now be posting this article on Reddit and Read.Cash - having worked so hard to create, analyse and write up the data. Now imagine if Reddit charged us $3000 to post this to the BCH community or Read.Cash charged us $1500... just for the privilege of sharing all our scientific work that may benefit the entire Flipstarter community...

This is exactly what is happening in the medical research publishing industry... and if you are a scientist in a low and middle income country, you may as well not bother, or go bankrupt trying to share your findings with the world.

So, if you can, help One.Surgery challenge this paradigm, get us over the 1.0 Flip-Dash ratio, and pledge today: https://flipstarter.one.surgery
