I understand where Roger Ver was coming from

When I first got into bitcoin in 2011, bitcoin was this rebellious underground currency where all of us would larp about making it a real currency on forums. It was a fun hobby, not really an investment. Then all of the venture capital money started to flow into all these ICOs and crypto startups back in 2015-18 and everything started changing. Now in 2021 it's an old white men's asset; it's just not fun anymore. I miss the old days when there were fewer people, when bitcoin was mostly a hobby shared with programmers and libertarians on message boards. Bitcoin becoming institutional was like it signed a deal with the devil. This whole ecosystem is all about sucking the dicks of Warren Buffet and Bill Gates to get their money, and that's not how it originally was when I got in this space.

Bitcoin as hard money was the idea we shared back in the day. Not as some institutional tool used by Goldman Sachs.
