When is the last time the email protocol changed?

I ain't no lemming who will just follow a personality into the abyss, but I want to seriously talk about CSW's stance on locking down the protocol now, in order to give the world a stable currency to build upon. I, personally, think this is absolutely necessary for a currency. It seems a lot of those on the Core side talk about the number of changes being made to the BTC protocol as if it is a good thing, and a reason that they trust it over any other coin. I have always had the stance that more change is worse for it, and I get ridiculed for having that stance.

Ask yourself this... when is the last time email, the protocol itself, forked. Lots of businesses have been able to build really cool features on top if it for decades, but this was only possible because the protocol has not changed. If some dev team tried to take it over and change it in ways that made it not email, the world would never, ever go along. This is how we must treat bitcoin.

The protocol doesn't need to have all the newest features in order to do what it is meant to do. It works as it was originally designed almost flawlessly. The dev team should be about as inactive as humanly possible. Change my mind.
