My thoughts on "Freedom Network"

For the past few months, we've been seeing a bunch of posts on this subreddit from this person "guyfawkesfp" about something called the freedom network.

I've had an opportunity to interact with GuyFawkes and wrote a few documents for his project. In this post, I'd like to explain a bit more about that.

Initially, I thought Freedom Network (FN) was just a collection of project, or a list of things we should build on top of Bitcoin Cash. But it's more than that. It's a framework for creating DAPPS (Decentralized Applications).

In the past several weeks, Guy has been refining and improving his description/explanation of his vision. His whitepaper is here:

Part of the challenge is that Guy is non-technical. I created a slightly more technical explanation of what he's trying to do here:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1mWh8tmgL80l0bei9qD5oSuYxsisGd201Buya6M1A-vU/edit

This is a VERY sparse thumbnail sketch of how I understand his architecture; it's not a detailed specification by any stretch.

I also created a protocol spec (draft) of something I call "Cash Page" which could be one of the first DAPPS we build on the freedom network:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1M1R0FgyDfPkCRoJ11Gq4f-JZe90sN0cVux-2nQ2jmSU/edit

Here's the bottom line: I don't know whether or not FN is the greatest framework or not... but I do think Guy has a vision, and that he's 100% correct that BCH dev community MUST focus on becoming a DAPP platform in order to win. I also really like the concept of FN from a marketing perspective.

Maybe it needs tweaking (I'm not sure), or maybe it can make use of other things being built like the overlay network, etc. I think we should at least build a first dapp.

So I suggest other devs check it out, join the discord group, and let's see if we can get this party started!
