A recently conducted survey by Gallup which was commissioned by banking giant Wells Fargo indicated how only a few people in the U.S. have invested their funds into cryptocurrencies and Bitcoin. The survey highlighted how much the price could surge if Bitcoin decides to go mainstream thereby attracting millions of casual investors.
As per the survey results, out of around 2,000 people surveyed by Gallup, only 2 percent of investors said that they presently own Bitcoin. Less than one percent of investors expressed during the survey that they plan to buy it in the near future. While the majority of investors mentioned that they don’t have any interest in every purchasing Bitcoin, around one in four surveyed individuals said that they are intrigued by it though. However, they said that they won’t be buying it anytime soon.
As mentioned in the Forbes report, Gallup said that the price of Bitcoin is back on an upswing after crashing earlier this year. This caused some individuals to say its bubble is about to burst again while others argued that its value is going to accelerate, as more merchants inevitably adopt it.
Gallup in its report further added that for now, the majority of investors are on the sidelines, as they know too little or nothing about Bitcoin. The pollsters added that few people are already investing in Bitcoin while others plan to join in soon. It also added mentioning that younger investors, who presently said that they are intrigued by it, may be converted into investors once Bitcoin decides to go mainstream.
Gallup mentioned that as of now, only 3 percent of men, 1 percent of women, 3 percent of those aged 18 to 49 and 1 percent of those aged 50 and older reported owning Bitcoin. Another study carried out earlier this year found around 8 percent out of around 26 million people in the U.S. is reported to have purchased cryptocurrency.
