Gaming Industry Begins Exploring Blockchain Technology, Collaborates With Ledger Companies

Gaming Industry and blockchain technology

The gaming industry has come together with blockchain companies to form the Blockchain Game Alliance (BGA). The coalition is done in order to facilitate blockchain development within the gaming sector. BGA stands to create an open forum for their participants to share knowledge research on foster advanced and new ways of creating games. The announcement of the alliance was done at the inaugural Blockchain Game Summit held in Lyon, France on September 25-26, 2018.

According to Bitcoin Magazine, it is stated that the Blockchain Game Alliance (BGA) is formed by influential companies like Fig, Ubisoft, Alto, Gimli, ConsenSys, EverdreamSoft, Ultra, B2Expand, and Enjin. Apart from the research and development, the collaboration will promote best practices and common standards to maintain blockchain integration within the community. Another principal aim is to leverage combined skills and expertise in bridging the gap and accelerating the growth between the blockchain and gaming arena.

Nicolas Gilot, co-CEO of Ultra, a personal computer game publishing platform based on the blockchain stated that this collaboration is going to democratize blockchain within the gaming industry. He also added that this is the best way to support and promote the talent in the gaming sector. In a way, everyone will help in driving the disruptive change and transformation with an enhanced end-user experience. (Via Block Tribune)

Games Based On Blockchain Technology

There are already a few games available in the market running on blockchain such as Spells of Genesis (SoG), a mobile trading card game created by Swiss-based EverdreamSoft which was launched earlier this year. EverdreamSoft CEO termed this game as a huge milestone because it is one of the first ICO projects that hit the mainstream market. (Via Bitcoin Magazine)

The alliance is still in the early stage, but entire BGA seems pretty enthusiastic and ambitious to unlock the power of new ledger technology for the gaming industry.
