Blockchain games based on Ethereum (ETH) platforms are really creating a stir in the gaming sphere. Analysts believe that this will introduce blockchain technology to a commoner and make it acceptable to almost everyone at large. Days are not far when blockchain technology will be integrated into most of the industries and working.
Loom Network, the head honcho in blockchain-based gaming sphere made several announcements largely focusing around its blockchain-enabled games including a collectible card game, Kickstarter, Zombie Battleground and more. The network is using all these games to promote the advantages of blockchain-enabled games to more than 12 million gamers from the mainstream.
Even though the authorities at Loom are confident that blockchain has all the potential to become the next revolutionary, dynamic technology with multiple usages, there are two major problems that are keeping it from gaining mainstream popularity. Currently, the blockchain applications do not include killer DApps that can incentivize millions of users to use it. UX issues are causing friction due to which it becomes harder to use DApps as compared to other centralized counterparts.
Blockchain games can answer this problem. For gaming, users do not need to be motivated strongly for downloading or playing a new game. The only criteria are to market the game well and offer fun and entertainment the gamers are looking for. According to a survey around 41 percent, gamers download 2 to 3 games every year, said Medium.
Once the friction is removed the onboarding experience for the gamers for a blockchain game will be similar to any other game. Importantly these games also bring benefits to the end user such as robust in-game economies, fairness in drop rates and infinite modability. Since most of the big names in gaming technology are confident of the potential of blockchain they are coming together to bring a revolution in the industry through this technology.
Blockchain games can soon get a lift as Alto, Fig, Gimli, Ubisoft, Enjin, EverdreamSoft and Ultra have collaborated to promote the democratization of this technology in the field of gaming. Called Blockchain Game Alliance, this collaboration between gaming companies and blockchain was recently announced at the inaugural Blockchain Game Summit, said ChipIn. The primary aim of this alliance is to focus on the transformative nature of blockchain technology and demonstrate how it can bring innovative benefits to positively impact the ecosystem of gaming.
