Indian Share Market News: Telecom Index Drags 2 Percent; Tata Communications, Bharti Airtel, GTL Infrastructure Fall

Telecom index falls 2 percent; Vodafone Idea, Bharti Infratel, Airtel drag in Indian Share Market

The BSE Telecom record in Indian share market was in the negative region in afternoon exchange on October 3, 2018, on losses in select heavyweight counters. The telecom pack was exchanging 2 percent down at 988 around 01:05 pm.

Shares of Vodafone Idea (down 0.94 percent), Aksh Optifibre (down 0.99 percent), Sterlite Technologies (down 0.80 percent), Reliance Communications (down 0.88 percent) and GTL (down 0.78 percent) declined up to 1 percent.

GTL Infrastructure (down 4.72 percent) was the failure of the pack, trailed by Bharti Infratel (down 4.32 percent), Vodafone Idea (down 3.09 percent), Tata Communications (down 2.86 percent) and Bharti Airtel (down 1.49 percent). Rest all segments of the record were trading with additions around then.

In Indian share market, Himachal Futuristic Communications (down 0.61 percent), Vindhya Telelinks (down 0.60 percent) and OnMobile Global (down 0.46 percent) were in the red. Nonetheless, MTNL (up 3.34 percent), ITI (up 1.73 percent), Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) (up 1.02 percent) and GTPL Hathway (up 0.97 percent) were in the green around that time.

Shares of GTPL Hathway (up 7.96 percent) and OnMobile Global (up 5.02 percent) zoomed more than 5 percent. Vindhya Telelinks (up 3.91 percent), Tejas Networks (up 2.63 percent), Sterlite Technologies (up 1.86 percent), Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (up 1.52 percent), Reliance Communications (up 1.93 percent) and GTL (up 1.50 percent) timed average additions. Aksh Optifibre (up 1.46 percent), Himachal Futuristic Communications (up 0.50 percent), ITI (up 0.25 percent) were up with lukewarm additions.

However, shares of MTNL (up 3.34 percent), ITI (up 1.73 percent) and GTPL Hathway (up 0.97 percent) were in the green around that time, according to the report of Economic Times.

Benchmark BSE Sensex was 258 points down at 36,268, while the NSE Nifty50 record was down 74 points at 10,934.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty list, 23 were exchanging in the green, while 27 were in the red. In the Sensex pack, 16 stocks were progressing and 15 stocks were declining.

In the Indian share market M&M, TCS, Axis Bank, ITC, Hero MotoCorp, PowerGrid, Bharti Airtel and HUL and IndusInd Bank were among the top losers in the Sensex record reported by Economic Times.
