India’s Top Textile Commodities Production Prone To Plunge By 10-15 Percent

Top Textile Commodities Production Prone To Reduce By 10-15 Percent This Year

Our country’s overall top textile commodities production is prone to reduce by 10-15 percent this year owing to the mass return of migrant labor from Gujarat, chief textile producer in India.

About 80 percent of India’s overall synthetic textiles production comes from the state of Gujarat. Vagrant workers move out from the state in order to escape the violence against women after the rape of a minor. Some return home due to better opportunities.

The nation’s textile industry is amassed in the hands of Gujarat and Maharashtra in the western part and Tamil Nadu and Karnataka in the southern part. A vast extent of laborers utilized by these units originates from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal. In contrast to the developed countries, textile industries in our country are not completely automated or computerized and stay labor-intensive.

Lack of labors affects both small- and medium-sized units greatly. Therefore, top textile commodities production in many units has dropped by 20 percent to 25 percent or even higher.

The information collected by the Confederation of Indian Textile Industry reported that about 100 million people are engaged in the Indian textile industry, directly or indirectly, across the entire nation, according to the textile commodity news reported on commodityonline.

Our country’s textile exports are probably going to decrease by 10 percent to 12 percent for the current FY18 because of the decline in tax exceptions allowed to exporters, Indian rupee appreciation against the US dollar and changing of import orders to competing nations, as reported on Business Standard.

Shockingly, our country’s ready-made garments export, a portion of India’s top textile commodities exports segment, has decreased by 41 percent in October 2018 to 5,398 crore Rupees from 9,111 crore Rupees in the same month a year ago. Exports of synthetic yarns, fabrics and made-ups have also decreased, based on the information reported on the above-mentioned source.
